I want to update a different Notion page based on the output of a previous step where Claude gpt responds with one of four titles for my own Notion pages. For example, the string response from Claude is ‘WORK’. That is provided to the next step, a Notion app with event “Find Page (By Title)”.  However, this test always fails with “Nothing could be found for the search”. I definitely have a Notion page in the linked Notion workspace with the title ‘WORK’.  I’ve tried both True and False options for `exact_match` with the same result.

 

This seems like it should be straightforward and yet it just doesn’t work for me. I hope someone can point me in the right direction. Is there perhaps some Notion page permissions that prevent this page from being searchable by Zapier? Or is the Notion page title perhaps not what I think it is? e.g. the URL is not ‘WORK’, it is like this format: `https://www.notion.so/WORK-12136465e6a7c809a811ab8c2` . I searched the forum and couldn’t find any relevant topics or information.

Make sure to check:

  • The Notion page has no leading/trailing spaces/whitespace
  • The variable value has no leading/trailing spaces/whitespace

I’m 100% certain there are no leading or trailing whitespace in the Notion page title. I am 90% certain the variable value received from the Claude step has no leading or trailing whitespace, but I also have not been able to prove that definitively.

I not sure how to “capture” that value except by viewing what is reported in the Zapier GUI as in the portion of the screenshot that you posted. It does ‘feel’ like there is some other issue at work here. I’m really wondering about whether Zapier has all the permissions it needs to search for and find the Notion page, but so far I don’t see anything obvious to act on.

I guess one troubleshooting step that I just figured out is to just enter a page name in the Zap configuration, instead of grabbing the output from the previous step. Using this, I can test the query for pages that I know are in my Notion workspace. And sometimes it finds pages, and sometimes it doesn’t. I do notice that one of the pages it is able to find with exact_match=FALSE, but not with exact_match=TRUE, which is kind of interesting. But I’m still at a loss why the Zap can find some Notion pages but not others.

Yes. I reviewed https://zapier.com/apps/notion/help. There was nothing helpful there.

I gave Zapier full access to all of my pages, but new pages don’t appear

If you create new pages after connecting to your Notion account and want to interact with them in your Zaps, you'll need to grant Zapier permission in your Notion account. This is because Notion’s API requires you to specify permissions for each page that Zapier can access.
