So I’ve set up a really simple Zap using the NEW LABELLED EMAIL in Gmail trigger. However the Zap just will not trigger, and will not detect labelled emails in the Gmail account I want to trigger the Zap from. I can change the Gmail account to test it and it will work, but just this one particular account will not work. We’re on the Pro plan so there should be no limitations, and the Zap does not run no matter how long it is left. It doesn’t even work when you run it from within the Zap editor. 

Any thoughts or help will be gratefully received :)

Below is a screenshot of the Gmail trigger step (step 1), both the Setup and Configure tabs…

I’ve tested the connection and it seems to be working fine, and I’ve tested step 1 of the Zap and it’s not throwing up an error, so I’m puzzled :(

Your Zap trigger is currently: New Email

Instead your Zap trigger should be: New Labeled Email

Sorry for the confusion, that’s my bad, I had to change the Zap set up to the “New Email” trigger to make it work (but now only on new emails, not old emails that get a label added, so not ideal), but previously I had it set as “New Labeled Email” when it wasn’t triggering. But the set up is identical.

I did some checking on this end and came across a bug where some labeled emails were missed due to the labels being applied to a number of emails in bulk. Do you think that could be the case here, or is it also failing to trigger on emails that weren’t labeled in bulk?

I don’t believe this would be the case because we’ve not labelled any emails in bulk with the ZAPIER label. And even when I try it on a one-off email it doesn’t trigger. It’s very strange because I changed the Gmail account that the zap was running off and it seemed to work, just not this particular account. But then there are other zaps running off that same account that are working fine, so I don’t believe there is a connection issue.

Do you think it’s worth changing the Label and starting again maybe? 


Thanks for confirming that ​@powerglide_guys. Hmm, that’s super odd. If you keep it connected to the same Gmail account but have it looking for a different label does it trigger then? 

If so, there might be something about the specific label itself that’s causing an issue. In which case your idea of changing the label may fix it. 🤔

At any rate, I would recommend reaching out to our Support team to have them investigate things further. They’ll be able to dig into the logs for your Zap to better determine why it’s not triggering.

Thanks for that suggestion. I have created a new label and tested the Zap and few times, and it seemed to work, so for now I have my fingers crossed that the issue is solved, but with no idea why it didn’t work in the first place 😂.
