I’m creating new contacts in Cloudtalk from a zapier table. When creating the data link to cloudtalk, only a limited number of fields show. However when I use the limited data and prepare to send it to cloudtalk, all of the fields I want to use show up.

Here are the fields that show up and below this is the test zap that shows a host of more fields. How do I access these?

Hi @MartinDean

Most Zap apps are created and maintained by the app developer using the Zapier Developer platform.

It may be that CloudTalk has limited certain fields from being available in their Zap app action.

Or it may be that CloudTalk does not support creating/updating those other fields and only returns those fields.

I recommend reaching out to CloudTalk Support for help with their Zap app integration and possible guidance.

Hi Troy and thanks for the info. Cloudtalks own help page https://help.cloudtalk.io/en/articles/3410740-how-do-i-configure-my-zapier-integration list the fields as being available and from a naive perspective the fact that they show when test zapping should mean that a connection is available. They just are not showing. Even the zip field is missing - and that’s a staple field for any contact information.

Hi @MartinDean 👋

As Troy mentioned it can sometimes be that an app doesn’t provide access to be able to add or update values for certain fields via their API, or sometimes it certain field weren’t included in the code for some reason when the action was built—even if upon testing it then displays those fields in the test data. I’d recommend reaching out to our Support team as well to look into this. If the fields are listed in CloudTalk’s documentation then it could well be that there’s a bug that’s preventing the missing fields from being loaded, in which case the Support team can open a bug report on your behalf to flag this to the developers of the CloudTalk app, so it gets sorted.

In the meantime, it looks like their API would allow you to update those contact fields using their Edit contact endpoint so you could potentially use a Webhooks by Zapier action to update those missing fields. Webhooks are a bit more advanced but we’ve got a general guide on how to set them up here: Send webhooks in Zaps. And I’d be happy to lend a hand if you run into any trouble setting it up.

Hope that helps to get you pointed in the right direction. If you run into any issues on that or have further questions do let us know! 🙂

Hi Sam and thanks for replying. I have contacted support and Mary K responded overnight. I have now gone back to her. The info showing on Cloudtalk’s help section is contrary to whats showing in Zapier - so I don’t know what or where the issue is right now.

I’m aware that it can be done using webhooks, but that involves me going through a learning curve and time is of the essence (our CRM is closing in 5 weeks!). Not sure I have the bandwidth to learn about webhooks and implement it in that time.

I will await Mary K’s response.

Hi there @MartinDean,

I took a look at your ticket and it seems like our Support Team created a feature request on your behalf for the “Create Contact” action in CloudTalk to add more fields in the action step.

Unfortunately, we don’t have an exact ETA for the implementation of this feature request, but you will get an email notification once the feature has been implemented.

Thank you!

Hi Ken, thank you for taking the time to post.

Support were in touch with me yesterday and I’m aware of the feature request.

Regards

M
