Hi,

I am using a zapier zap that has my shopfiy website and jobber connected. The trigger on the shopify app is "new paid order" and the action is "Create new client" in jobber. I've been using this zap for the last 2 years successfully. We have a seasonal business and just opened up for this year. We are having issues. A new client in jobber is not being created if the customer doesn't input an email address. Thanks for any help

Hi @Mitt

Check your Zap Run history for activity and errors/issues: https://zapier.com/app/history/

Post screenshots to give us more context.

Here you go

Sorry I meant to explain things more in detail. Here are the details of the issue. I am using a zapier zap that has my shopfiy website and jobber connected. The trigger on the shopify app is "new paid order" and the action is "Create new client" in jobber. I've been using this zap for the last 2 years successfully. We have a seasonal business and just opened up for this year.  A new client in jobber is not being created if the customer doesn't input an email address. Most of my customers during checkout input their phone number not an email address. On the Zapier Zap side of things the email address field is listed as"Optional" not "Required". I’m wondering if it’s an issue on jobber’s end OR if there’s a work around on the Zapier side of things.

@Mitt

Zap Run error indicates the email address provided was not valid as determined by Jobber.

Considering the screenshot shows a first name value of “Test” that may indicate the email address was also a “test” email address that may be dummy data.

Tony thanks for your response. What you said regarding the test email address may be true but the problem is that most of my customers are not entering an email address during the shopify checkout process. The checkout process (stripe shopify) asks for either phone number or email address and most of my customers are putting their phone number and not putting in an email. Because of this when the order is placed there is no email address being transferred from shopify to jobber which in turn is not resulting in a new client in jobber being created.  Question: Is there a way to eliminate the email in the jobber step in the zap (see your previous photo) so it’s not looking for an email

@Mitt

For us to have full context about the Jobber Zap step 2 error in the Zap Run, we would need to see these screenshots:

  • tab: DATA IN
    • all of the input values
  • tab: CONFIGURE
    • how your Zap steps is configured in EDIT mode with the field mappings visible

TIP: In the Zap step CONFIG, click on field labels that are underlined to see tool tips with more info that may provide guidance.

Troy,

Thanks again for your help. I was pulled away because we just launched the business. We’re working around the issues by uploading via spreadhsheet customer sales from Shopify bypassing Zapier. I had several emails with Jobber and they said their app doesn’t require an email. Jobber just needs a phone number or email address. I tried to follow your step in your post above but I’m just such a newbie to this I’m having trouble following your instructions. Is there a way to simply delete the email field in the Zap so it’s not attempting to have it filled? Then we can test it? Thanks in advance for your help

@Mitt

You can remove any static value or mapped variable in a Zap step field.

But you can’t remove the field.
