Using Box Zap and File Upload action specifying a new file name using name Property, I am getting the file successfully uploaded but its file name in Box is a concatenation of the new name provided in name property and its original name. It seems to be a bug to me.

Has anyone face this issue? More importantly I can get a file uploaded to Box with a new name?

Hi @Solution

For us to have more info, post screenshots showing how your Zap step is configured in EDIT mode with the field mappings visible.

Thanks @Troy Tessalone  here are the settings used.

The input received from the Zap is Name=”YSA_SWE_CTV-Samsung_1840x320.png”
and the output I am getting once the Zap is processed is Name ”YSA_SWE_CTV-Samsung_1840x320.png.4f701daaff83785c8152c6e100fcb7f209961946-preview-png”

“4f701daaff83785c8152c6e100fcb7f209961946-preview-png” corresponds to the original file name.

It seems to be concatenating the name of the file with the new name and the original name when stored in BOX.

@Solution

Will need to see more screenshots, as the issue may be related to the Looping step and how data is returned from Zap steps before the Looping step.

Post these screenshots:

  • How your Zap steps are outlined
  • How your Zap steps are configured in EDIT mode with the field mappings visible.
  • DATA OUT from the Zap steps used in the Looping step

Please find screenshots as requested.

and here the overall zaps involved.

Click the field label “Name” to see a tooltip that may have helpful info.

If you still suspect there is a bug, open a ticket with Zapier Support: https://zapier.com/app/get-help

yes exactly. the tooltip mention “Overwrites the natural file name from the trigger service.”

It does not overwrite but concatenate the name provided in that zap step with the original file name.

Desire outcome:  file name is named after the value provided in the Zap settings.

I have created a new ticket as per your recommendation. Hopefully both tickets will be linked so a resolution can be fast tracked.
