Slack natively supports non-English characters

I can create a channel named “韩国kc认证” including Chinese characters in slack manually:

Zapier does not accept non-English characters

Name for the channel to be created. Channel names are normalized by converting to lowercase, replacing any non-allowed characters with hyphens or underscore, and truncating to 80 characters.

Zapier will automatically remove non-English characters

I wanna create a channel named “韩国kc认证”, but Zapier remove the Chinese characters “韩国” and “认证”.

I think this is a bug, I wish your developer team to repair this bug as soon as possible.

Hi @Troy Tessalone

I have submitted feedback including this thread, waiting for reply, thanks!

Hi @Lentil,

Welcome to the Community! 🎉

I did some digging into this, and it looks like non-english characters are not supported when using the “Create Channel” action in Zapier. I have added you to the open feature request. That does a few things:

  • Bring this to the attention of the integration developers
  • Help track interest in this feature being implemented
  • Allows us to notify you via email if this feature becomes available in the future

While I don't have an ETA on when this feature might be implemented, we will notify you via email if it is!

Hopefully, this helps.
