I’m trying to get a new purchase or new client in trainerize to ultimately get a document emailed to the client to have them sign it (trying to use SignNow).

 

However, I haven’t been able to crack the code on extracting the email address from the client. I’ve tried: using formatter, email, IMAP, Parser (from the Zapier list)… and while the IMAP or email forwarding to the Zapier email was promising, there’s no way to access the zapier email box to accept the confirmation link sent by Gmail.

 

I’ve poured through the already asked questions on the forums...tried multiple routes on my own that seemed to make sense...and have gotten no answers yet on how to complete this. 

 

Anybody have any advice beyond linking another help article that doesn’t actually solve the issue?

First, which Zap trigger step are you trying to use? (different trigger events have different data returned and thus require different Zap action step exections)

  • Trainerize - New Client
  • Trainerize - New Purchase

For us to have more info, post screenshots showing:

  • how your Zap steps are outlined
  • how your Zap steps are configured in the CONFIGURE tab while in EDIT mode with the field mappings visible
  • the DATA OUT returned from the Zap trigger step you are trying to use
  • any encountered errors when testing Zap steps

Just came across this and wanted to check how it’s going. Did you manage to get it sorted with the help of a Zapier expert, or did you get this figured out on your own?

If it’s still not sorted, can I ask where you’re trying to extract the email address from? Both the New Purchase and New Client triggers appear to provide the email address:

So if your Zap were to use one of those triggers then there should no need to extract the email, as it’s already provided. To use it you’d just need to map the email field from the trigger step in your SignNow action step.

If that’s not the case or I’m misunderstanding things here, can you share some screenshots as Troy mentioned so we can get a bit more context on the issue? Be sure to blur/remove any personal info (names, emails etc.) before sharing—you can use a tool like Zappy for that.

Still unresolved for the New Purchase option. Any time I try to map it, or pull from the trigger step, it seems to input my own “info@” email address and the name of my business. i can’t figure out how to get the actual client’s email attached. Everything I had read says that only the New Client actually provides the email. I completely accept that this could be user error...just not sure how to fix it. Even the AI with clear instructions hasn’t manage to map the email option for me


Hey ​@MBki, so sorry for missing your reply here! 

If you select the Email field from the ABC Trainerize trigger that should ensure that whatever email address exists in the Email field for the new purchase that triggers the Zap will be passed over to the action that it’s been mapped to.

For example, if a purchase is made and the Email field (from the trigger) is selected in the To field (on the action), then whatever email address is in that Email field at the time that the Zap runs, will be the email address that the Gmail action shown below will send to:

If you give that a try and it’s still not working can you share a screenshot of what you’ve got selected currently in the action that’s using the wrong email address? That will help us to get a better idea of why it’s not working as expected.
