Hello,

I checked the forum without founding where I messed up:-)

I try to transfer a pdf received in a inbox mail to a drive folders but I only receive a txt with the name of the attachement in it.

Could you spot where I went wrong?

Hi @Thierry999

Help links for using files in Zaps: https://zapier.com/help/create/basics/send-files-in-zaps

The File field expects a file link or a file object, instead of just a file name.

Here’s how to fix it:

Step 1: Check the Gmail Attachment Data

  • In Step 1 (New Attachment in Gmail), make sure you’re pulling the file object (not just the filename).
  • Test the trigger and look for fields like:
    • "Attachment Data" or
    • "File (exists but not shown)"
  • If Zapier only pulls the filename, you may need to toggle an option like "Include Attachments" in the Gmail trigger.

Step 2: Verify the File Field in Google Drive Action

  • In Step 3 (Upload File to Google Drive), ensure that under "File *" you are mapping the actual file object, not just the attachment name.
  • If you see multiple fields in the dropdown, look for one that references the actual file content rather than just metadata.

Step 3: Test Again

  • Run a test from Step 1 → Step 3 to confirm Zapier now receives the full file instead of just the name.

Let me know if you're still stuck!
