I have just set up a Zapier account to send emails from Gmail. It has added the “two dashes” above my email signature. I saw that this feature was supposed to be resolved two years ago but here it is again. The chatbot didn’t have anything useful to say. Any suggestions?
In my Gmail account, I have ticked the box that says remove two dases in the line that precedes the email signature

Hi @Shine
Gmail automatically adds the double-dash signature separator per email standards. Zapier doesn’t control that behavior. Helpful reference from Google: https://support.google.com/mail/answer/8395
A common workaround is disabling the Gmail signature and adding it directly in the Zap email body.

Are you using the Add signature field in the Send Email action? Try adding a custom signature there to see if it fixes your issue.
It might be a bug as well try reaching out to support here- https://zapier.com/app/get-help. For the time being, you can just include that as a custom signature or in the HTML body. Hope it helps!
Glad to hear you got things sorted here! Would you be up for sharing what the solution was? Did you include the email signature directly in the body of the email as drtanvisachar suggested, or did selecting a custom signature for the Add signature default field as Sparsh suggested do the trick? Knowing this would be super helpful for others that might be running into similar issues with Gmail. 🙏
Yes, the solution was adding the email signature directly into the body of the email in Zapier. Need to copy in the HTML code, not just copy and paste the signature.
Thanks so much for confirming what the solution was @CaptPan! 🤗 In that case, I’ll mark drtanvisachar’s suggestion to add it into the body of the email as the best answer here - nice work here @drtanvisachar! 🙌
And thank you to @Sparsh from Automation Jinn as well for jumping in to lend a hand, always appreciated! 🧡
