How to connect Kit to Zapier when the item list is empty

I’m trying to do a zap to add someone to my email list in Kit (formerly ConvertKit). When I get to Add Subscriber to Sequence (or even add to tag), and try to connect my Kit account, it says on the page to Grant Access to Zapier but when I click that button it says to select an item from the drop down list, but that list is empty. How do I get past this?

Ok turns out the answer is you can’t do this if you aren’t a paid Kit subscriber. We’re still on the free plan.
