How to connect a personal account to Azure DevOps in Zapier?

I’d like to use Zapier to push Azure DevOps work item info to other software so that I can get a unified view of work when the tasks are split across different places (eg. some in AzDO and some in Trello). I’ve done something like this in the past with Gitlab.

When I try to set up the Zap, the Azure DevOps step launches a login window to connect my account, and this window gives me an error: “You can't sign in here with a personal account. Use your work or school account instead.” It’s perfectly possible to have Azure DevOps on a personal account - I’ve been doing so for years. Why can’t I connect this account? Is there a workaround?

Hi @anaximander,

Welcome to the Community.

Zapier supports only Azure DevOps accounts linked to Azure Active Directory (Azure AD) tenants, which can cause authentication issues for personal Microsoft accounts. To resolve this, you can create a new work or school account tied to an Azure AD tenant, associate your account with an Azure AD tenant if available, or use a third-party integration tool. Zapier is working to expand support for different Azure DevOps account types.
