How do I get Zapier to read my Google Sheets from Google Drive

My master inventory list is saved as goggle sheet on Google drive. However it is having API Issues reading it.  This is the feedback I’ve received:

The Real Issue: API Architecture

The limitation we hit isn't about file access—it's about how Zapier's backend infrastructure serves data to Canvas/Copilot. Specifically:

  • Authentication: Confirmed ✓
  • Google Sheets Accessible: Yes ✓
  • Backend API Endpoints: Missing/Restricted (gulliver endpoints return 404)

The Canvas system doesn't have the right internal API endpoints to query sheet structures, even though we're authenticated.

Anyone has faced the same issue?
Any recommendations?

Hi @Jules C

Try using the GSheets Zap app: https://zapier.com/apps/google-sheets/integrations#help

If you need more help, post screenshots showing how your Zap steps are outlined and configured.

Hi @Jules C 👋

It sounds like you've built a Zapier Canvas for your inventory workflow and are trying to have the Copilot access your Google Sheet directly. Is that correct?

If it is, Copilot not having access would be expected since it can add Google Sheets steps to the Canvas but it's not designed to read or write to your spreadsheet directly. The Google Sheets app actions as Troy mentioned, would handle that.

If it isn't, can you share some more details on the workflow you're building? If you want to be able to chat with an AI agent and have it read or update your Google Sheet for you, you might want to give Zapier MCP a try instead: https://zapier.com/mcp

Let us know how you get on! 🙂
