How do I avoid extracting "mailto:" when parsing an email address?

Hi,

I’m using Email Parser by Zapier, to parse an email from Gmail.

The parsing is working, but as I’m parsing an email field, instead of only parsing example@email.com it parses example@email.com (mailto:example@email.com). Is there a way to avoid parsing (mailto:example@email.com)?

Hey @miguelduffy Glad to see you were able to use plain text as a solution here! For anyone following along, there are a few options outside of “plain text” to parse only the email address from the output:

Create additional parser templates or change the parsing engine to help the parser learn which data to parse and which to let be. This article includes a few steps you can try to get your emails parsed correctly: https://zapier.com/help/troubleshoot/behavior/emails-are-parsed-incorrectly-in-zapier
Utilize a Formatter > Text > “Extract Email Address” step to extract only the email address from what the parser is offering you. More info: https://zapier.com/help/create/format/extract-data-in-zaps#extract-email-address
Utilize a Formatter > Text > Find/Replace step to find “mailto:” and leave the “replace” field empty to remove it from the string altogether.
Lastly, you could utilize a more robust email parser like Mailparser as Troy suggested: https://zapier.com/apps/mailparser/integrations#triggers-and-actions

I solved it sending the email as plain text.
