Hi all I want to send out a SMS text when I get an email into outlook the has the word ALARM in the subject I cant get passed the filter any ideas

Hey @TONY HUGHES,

You can use New Email Matching search trigger to filter for a specific word.

Alternatively, you can also use a Filter action in Zapier. See more about Filter in Zapier here-https://help.zapier.com/hc/en-us/articles/8496276332557-Add-conditions-to-Zaps-with-filters. Hope it helps!

Hi thanks where is new email matching search ???

It’s the Outlook trigger. Here are all the triggers/ actions for Outlook in Zapier-https://zapier.com/apps/microsoft-outlook/integrations. Hope it helps!

is this an event or a filter , I have the event when a new email comes in and the filter to see if ALARM is in the subject in outlook, i cant find new email matching search many thanks for the help

It’s a trigger so you will only see it in a trigger.

Hi There I got it working did what you said, now i can’t start the Zap i only want free service only two modules this Zap will only work when the system I am using goes into alarm this would be 3 time per year, maybe Zapier is too clever for what i want and ideas why I cant start the zap may thanks for the help

When I turn the zap on come of of zapier go back in its turned off

I have found anther way around my problem using clicksend thanks for all your help

Hi there @TONY HUGHES 👋

Glad to hear you were able to workaround it by using ClickSend instead. Just wanted to clarify that it should be possible to achieve what you’re after while on our Free plan.

If you use the New Email Matching Search (Microsoft Outlook) trigger that Sparsh suggested, then a Filter step wouldn’t be needed. Instead of a filter, you would put subject:ALARM into the Search terms field when setting up the trigger:

And that should ensure that the Zap only triggers for new messages with the word ALARM in the email’s subject.

Then you’d use a Send SMS action (SMS by Zapier or a similar app) to send an SMS.

If you give that try and run into any issues, or if there’s anything else we can help with, just let us know 🙂
