I have created a quiz in Quizitri. I have connected Quizitri with Zapier and Zapier to Mailchimp. I don’t know how to get the data that was collected in the Zap into Mailchimp. Specifically, the quiz results. There are four results and I would like each result assigned a tag and then the appropriate tag added to the contact. I set up the tags, but when I tested it, it added ALL of the tags, which is not helpful.

Thank you!

Hey there, hope you’re well. Would you mind sharing some screenshots showing the set up of the Zap, and what the results of the quiz might look like?

It sounds like you might need to use paths if you need different outcomes (tags applied) based on different quiz results: https://help.zapier.com/hc/en-us/articles/8496288555917-Add-branching-logic-to-Zaps-with-Paths. But, I’ll have a better understanding of that once I can see the Zap set up.

Thank you so much for taking the time to get back to me. There will be four possible outcomes for the results. Ultimately, as part of the subscribe process, a tag would be added to Mailchimp so I can build a funnel for each of the outcomes.

Hey EAC, hope you’re well.

Would it be possible to share a screenshot that shows the configuration of the Mailchimp step, kinda like this? https://cdn.zappy.app/d176a938a6890d09fbd892cca667cce2.png

I suspect you’ve got all of the tags hardcoded into the step, so that they all get added. I’ll suggest a few tools and share some links to learn more on how to use them.

First, you will want to convert the quiz result to become the tag that you want - so quiz result Alpha becomes tag Green (for example). I recommend the look up table. Info on this can be found here: https://help.zapier.com/hc/en-us/articles/8496305146765-Create-lookup-tables-in-Zaps#h_01JAFT3QF431C3Y1DD0MD0Z042. The formatter is a free tool, so won’t add any usage to your Zap either.

Then, you’ll also need to map that value into the Mailchimp step. Info on this can be found here: https://help.zapier.com/hc/en-us/articles/8496343026701-Send-data-between-steps-by-mapping-fields

With the look up step, you will be able to generate the tag you need, and then use the info to add only that tag info to the subscriber. This way each new subscriber will only have the tag related to them.

This is the MailChimp set up. Thank you for all of the other information - I’ve got a bit of reading and learning to do. The formatting option would be preferable, because I’m on a very tight budget and don’t know if I can swing a paid version of Zapier to get access to the paths. Thank you again! -Erin

I don’t quite understand the Lookup Table - but I played with the “paths” and think I set up a rule so that for each outcome, when the subscriber is added to Mailchimp it will add the corresponding tag. Do you think I set this up properly? Thank you - Erin

Hi @EAC,

A Lookup Table maps input data to output data, such as assigning tags to Mailchimp subscribers. At the same time, a Path creates different Zap routes based on conditions, like adding subscribers to other lists. To verify your setup, test the Lookup Table and Paths in Zapier to ensure they work as expected, and check Mailchimp to confirm subscribers are categorized correctly.

I hope this helps. Let me know if you have any other questions.
