Hello there!

Trying to work a BIG list of videos from a Google Sheet over to YouTube. I’ve created some new rows in the sheet and am using some formulas that merge data from multiple rows into one to populate them - things like the title of the video need to include information from two rows, and things like the description needs to include data from three or four rows. And finally, based on some other help I saw on here, I’ve created a custom download link row that re-writes the download link for the video file in google drive.

I’ve then mapped the YouTube upload title to this the new row, description to the YT Description row, and so on…

When I run the Zap, nothing gets uploaded, and I keep getting an error that says “Required field "title" (title) is missing.”

I’m not sure what I’m doing wrong here - any ideas??

Thanks!

Hi @howerton

Help us have more context by posting screenshots showing how your Zap steps are outlined and configured in EDIT mode with the field mappings visible.

Thanks for the note Troy - here are the screenshots:

And some screenshots from the Google Sheet:

This one has the formula listed in the top left:

@howerton

For live Zap Runs, check your Zap Runs history details to see the DATA IN/OUT for each step to help you trace and troubleshoot: https://zapier.com/app/history/

Check the Row ID that is being processed.

Post screenshots showing the Zap Run errors for us to have more context.

Hunch is that your columns with formulas in the GSheet are causing the issue triggering the Zap for rows that have no data only formulas.

You may want to consider using Airtable instead of GSheets.

I’ve built a few YouTube publishing systems for clients using these app:

  • Airtable
  • GDrive
  • YouTube
  • Zapier

Let me know if you need help.

Thanks again Troy - here is that screenshot. That is my suspicion too, I’m working on duplicating the formula columns and pasting a clean value only - will try that once done, but wanted to share the screenshot in case it triggered any other ideas.

Ok - cleaned up the google sheet and ran it again, this time I am getting a “throttled” notification… but the title and description still aren’t pulling correctly. Any other ideas before I try another route like Airtable?

In your Zap Run history details, check the DATA OUT tab to see the Row ID that triggered the Zap Run to help you troubleshoot.

Hello @JammerS, Unfortunately I have still not quite figured this out - I’m not sure what is going wrong, and hitting a bit of a wall. Is there an option to have tech support take a look at my zap and help me troubleshoot further?

Thanks for the follow up.

Hi @howerton,

You may contact our Zapier Support here : https://zapier.com/app/get-help so we can help you further. Thank you.

Ok - I’ve signed up for a paid account (though I really think this ought to be workable without one)… and submitted a ticket… but it might take 24 hours, so I’m back here with another troubleshooting question…

I think my issue might be related to the fact that the link I have pointed the zap to find the video opens a page that says “your file is too large to scan for viruses, download anyway?” instead of simply downloading the file. Is there a way to disable that question? OR a way to write a zap that essentially clicks the “download anyway” button?

Hi @howerton,

It looks like you’ve reached out to our Support Team about this and they replied today with a suggestion. I’ll share details of the suggestion here in case it’s helpful:

So I think yep, that is what's causing the issue. This isn't really a direct download link but a link that redirects to the authorization page against viruses. In this case, we need the URL to be something that's directly downloadable.

Are these links within your Google Drive? If so, we can change the workflow in a way where the file's name is returned in the Google Sheet and we use the Find File step in Google Drive to find this specific file. We can then attach the file directly to the YouTube step which should help us bypass this error.

Let me know if that works. Looking forward to hearing back

If you’ve got any questions regarding their suggestion it would be best to continue the conversation with them over email. If you can’t locate their reply I’d recommend searching your spam/junk folder or searching your inbox for any emails from zapier.com in case. Sometimes their emails can end up in the spam/junk folder by accident.
