Question

Google Contacts Update

I have InsuredMine CRM sending a trigger to my Zap.  I am only using this zap maybe 5 times a month and have no other zap, so I want to stay in the free zone.

InsuredMine triggers contact change

 I want to do it in one step, with the Google Contact Update Action, but I am finding I have to do a Google Find Contact Action first for it to work.   The InsuredMine trigger is sending all the contact information, so I am not sure why Google Contact Update can not find the record in my contacts.

Appreciate any help in a workaround to get it down to a one step Zap if possible.

Hi @JimK

To update a contact in GContacts using the the Zap action “Update Contact”, it requires passing the GContacts Contact ID.

If that value does not come from the Zap trigger step, then you need to use a GContacts Find Contact Zap action step to find the contact, which will return the GContacts Contact ID to use.

Anyway to get the update google contact to find the id since it is doing a lookup in the setup of the action.  The trigger would unfortunately have no knowlege of google contact id.  I am trying to figure out how to get this down to one step so I can stay in the free account.

@JimK

The Zap will require 3 steps, unless the Zap trigger step includes a data point with a value of the GContacts Contact ID to use to update the Contact in the GContacts Update Contact step.
