Hi @emacner,
Welcome to the community. To fix this issue, add a Formatter to your Zap. Google Contacts provides 3+ different email address fields, but only one is currently mapped for the action. It's usually not feasible to map all three fields into the action app because some contacts might have multiple email addresses. If you have a preferred order of email address fields to choose from, you can use Formatter > Utilities > Pick From List, and "Choose First" and it will select the first non-empty value in the list.
@JammerS Thanks for that great answer, that’s exactly what I needed.
I’m trying to do a Google Contacts new/update trigger to send contact information to Hubspot.
As you said, Google’s E-mail fields just don’t work with Hubspots, so a transformation is needed.
The downside to this is that it seems to require a Pro subscription which is a lot to pay for the basic functionality of sending a Contact from one system to another.
Any ideas about working around that?
Thanks again for the answer!
Hi @Barbara,
To set up a workflow between Google Contacts and HubSpot, select Google Contacts as the trigger app and HubSpot as the action app. Customize the trigger event in Google Contacts (for example, ‘New Contact’ or ‘Updated Contact’) and define the action in HubSpot (‘Create/Update Contact’). Map the fields between the two apps, possibly using a ‘Formatter’ step for compatibility. Test the workflow to ensure it functions correctly, then activate it for automation. Note that free tiers of these platforms have task limits, so consider upgrading if you need to sync many contacts regularly.
I hope this answers your second question. Feel free to ask if you have further questions.
