Question

Gmail step hit an error: The app returned "Recipient address required"

I created a zaps to Send new ArtiBot leads as custom emails from Gmail, but I have doubts about filling out the fields in the configure tab.

Could anyone send a video tutorial on how to fill in the fields, as zappier is returning an error "This Gmail step hit an error | The app returned "Recipient address required". (see screencapture)

Thanks

Hi @Alexandro Cardozo

Error indicates you do not have a valid email address mapped for the TO field. (It shows just a full name.)

Hi Tony,

Thanks for the answer.

I entered "name: sample text" in the to field. Is it correct?  please see the screen capture.

Good week.

Thanks!

Hi there, @Alexandro Cardozo 👋

Did selecting an email address instead of a name in the To field, as Troy suggested, resolve the error?

Want to make sure this gets sorted, so please keep us updated on how it’s going. Happy to help if you’re running into any further issues!

Hi @SamB,

How are you?

Thanks for the answer.

The question is which is the correct option to be inserted in the "TO" field.

The only email field that is listed to include in the "TO" field is "Email teste@artibot.ai" (see screenshot).

Would it be correct to select the "Source" option?

Thanks for the help.

Hi @Alexandro Cardozo,

The “To” field requires an email address. Could you please try mapping an email address on that field and skipping the Gmail action step since the trigger only provides placeholder sample data.

To see the Zap if it’s working or not, I’d recommend publishing the Zap and doing a live test.

Hello,

I consulted the fields on the artibot.ai dashboard and identified that the email field is identified as Email, however, it does not appear in the list. (see the screen capture)

I have tried all possible options, and the error continues.

Is there a tutorial or would there be a way to report the problem.

Thanks.

Hi @Alexandro Cardozo,

I believe the ArtiBot.ai does not use real sample data and only uses placeholder sample data. Have you tried publishing the Zap and triggering the Zap live to see if the Zap works?

I'll be keeping an eye out for your response!

Hi @massody

How are you? I created a zaps to send an email to the new lead captured by the artibot.ai bot through gmail.

It happens that when configuring the configuration in the configure option, I don't know which field I should fill in because in the list of options for the "TO" field I can't find the correct field that I should fill in, so the message "receiver does not exist" appears.

See the screenshot, which fields are available, despite several attempts, including entering the email address captured during the conversation in the BOT (artibot.ai) in the "TO" field, the error still persists.

If you can help me, I would be immensely grateful.

Sorry, but I can´t send message to you in private, because the message keep sending e nothing to do.

Good week.

Hi @Alexandro Cardozo 👋

In your last screenshot it still looks like the Email field hasn’t been selected. In the To field on the Gmail action, you’d want to select the Email field from the ArtiBot.ai trigger step:

864cb10a43bc1879c1cd8ddfcff6d988.png

That will ensure that any time the Zap runs the lead’s email address that is sent over from ArtiBot will be the recipient of the email that the Zap sends.

Can you give that a try, then turn the Zap on and run a live test? For the test I’d suggest using your own email address for a new lead in ArtiBot to double-check the email goes through to your email as expected.

Looking forward to hearing from you!

Hi @SamB,

How are you?

Thanks for your reply.

I tried using the field “Email”, but, this field It refers to a test email, that is, when testing the Zap, the email is sent to my own email address.

I contacted Zapier and artibot.ai support, there were several attempts without a solution, so I suspended the Zap and created one with integration with Slack.

Have nice week.

Hi @Alexandro Cardozo,

If your email field is sent to a test email address during Zap testing, it's likely because Zapier uses sample data during tests. After testing, select the correct live data for the email field. Double-check that the email field in the action step is pulling the correct dynamic data (like the user's email) and not test data. If you're happy with the Slack integration, you can continue using it, but if you want to use the email Zap again, adjust the Trigger or Filter to process the correct emails.
