I’ve had a working zap, when i returned to it and try to test the AI by Zapier (app)
I started getting these errors:

Failed to create a results in AI by Zapier

Method doesn't allow unregistered callers (callers without established identity). Please use API Key or other form of API consumer identity to call this API.

----

Everything is good with connection and API, it was not happening yesterday,
without any change on my part.

If i run rerun a zap given previous payload it works, it seems to fail in the Editor only.

When asking the AI to fix it, goes completely in the wrong direction saying this:

What this error means:
The error indicates that the AI by Zapier step is unable to retrieve the necessary input data from the previous step. Specifically, it seems that the placeholders in the input fields (e.g., {{326933394__message__summary}}) are not receiving values from the Google Sheets step, which is causing the action to fail.

---

The above statement is not true because even when i remove this field it complains about the step before that.

Any Ideas?

Hi @Liam T Bilich

For us to have more info about what you are referring to, post screenshots of the error and how your Zap step is configured in EDIT mode with the field mappings visible.

Hey @Liam T Bilich,

Are you connecting your own account for the AI credentials? Which LLM are you using?

Can you post screenshots of Data In, Data Out, the error as well as how each Zap step is configured for us to have more context?

I could see some of these error related to Gemini API. I would recommend creating a new API key to see if it fixes your issue. Hope it helps!

Hi

Hi @Troy Tessalone and @Sparsh from Automation Jinn

Yes I’m using my own Gemini Studio Key,

The Zap works in properly in production so it’s not a key problem or field mapping problem.

I simply cannot work on the zap and pass the step in the editor as i mentioned.

I also duplicated the Zap to a new one, the same thing happens.

ps. I even replaced the connection, tried with a different prompt, and also removed all the input variables so that there would be just static prompt, still the same error.

attached are screenshots, simply gemini api is not being called or something of this kind,
again the zap in production works the problem is in the Editor only as it see it (and better be so then breaking production)

Please let me know if you need any more info,
would be happy to provide.

Did you also try this with a different API key?

hi @Sparsh from Automation Jinn

I already did that, and verified it works in production, still the same….

Hey @Liam T Bilich,

Is it just this Zap or happening for every AI by Zapier action in other Zaps also? It might be a bug or some glitch, you can contact the Zapier support here- https://zapier.com/app/get-help. Hope it helps!

@Liam T Bilich

Your attachments did not upload.

Hi @Sparsh from Automation Jinn
Yes It’s happening in every zap, the original one and the one i duplicated.

Thanks for the support link i will try contact them, I think first I will try to delete the whole Step all together and recreate it to make sure.

Hi Again

Ok I can confirm the issue is resolved, here is what I did:

  • chose Gemini-2.0-Flash instead of 2.5 flash, the Test worked.
  • chose back Gemini-2.5-flash - and it continued to work.
  • Works in both Zaps the original and the duplicated one.

Thanks again guys, I appreciate you getting back to me so fast 👌

Thanks so much for sharing how you solved this, @Liam T Bilich! 🤗 I’ll go ahead and mark your last reply as the best answer to help surface it to others that might be running into the same issue.

And thank you as well to @Troy Tessalone and @Sparsh from Automation Jinn for jumping in to help 🧡
