Question

Getting a formatting error for Date of Birth into Givebutter

We are importing contacts from Waiverfile to Givebutter. They come in from Waiverfile in MM/DD/YYYY format. Every time I attempt to test the import into GB I am getting a formatting error that states it needs to be in “m/d/Y” format. What even is that? I tried to use the formatter and EVERY POSSIBLE format to no avail.

The DOB field in Givebutter is NOT a custom field. I exported information from there and it set us as MM/DD/YYY so I don’t understand the issue.

Hi @OregonSCI

Screenshot does not show how the DOB value is formatted that you are attempting to send to Givebutter.

Make sure it is in this format: M/D/YYYY with single values for M and D instead of MM and DD.

From the Givebutter API docs: https://docs.givebutter.com/reference/create-contact

Date of birth for the contact.

The expected format is m/d/Y

e.g.: 4/17/1993

It is in MM/DD/YYYY format. The Formatter in Zapier doesn’t have an option for M/D/YYYY.

@OregonSCI

Use the [...] button to change to “Custom” mode, then you can enter a custom value: M/D/YYYY

I tried it and it still didn’t work. It’s expecting the lower case “m” and “d” which won’t work because Zapier uses “m” for minutes, like normal people.

I chatted briefly with Givebutter and they said that it might not be able to perform this action. 🙄

For us to have more info, post screenshots showing how your Zap steps are configured in EDIT mode with the field mappings visible.

@OregonSCI

In Zap step 3, you need to map the output variable from Zap step 2 for the DOB field.

TIP: Click field labels that are underlined to see a tooltip with more info that may provide guidance.
