Fixing start and end datetime errors in Google Sheets to Google Calendar automation

I am trying to set up an automation from Google Sheets to Google Calendar.
What I want is: whenever I enter a specific keyword or mark a row in green, Zapier should automatically create a Google Calendar event with a Google Meet link.
The event should have a specific title and description based on the information from that row in the spreadsheet.

I tried setting this up, but I’m getting the following error in Google Calendar:

Failed to create an event in Google Calendar
Required field "Start Date & Time" (start__dateTime) is missing. Required field "End Date & Time" (end__dateTime) is missing.

Could someone help me fix this issue, or suggest the correct way to reimplement this automation?

Thank you in advance.

Hello Ege,

I'm Patricia from the Zapier Support team—happy to help!

Based on the error you're seeing, it looks like the Zap is attempting to create a Google Calendar event without receiving valid values for the Start Date & Time and End Date & Time fields. These are required, so if those values are missing or blank, the step will fail.

Here’s what I suggest:

Make sure the Google Sheets row you're testing with has actual values in the date/time columns you're using. These should follow a format like: 2025-08-20 14:00 or 2025-08-20T14:00:00+01:00

Ensure the field does not look like this View screenshot

You can learn more about supported formats here:

Let me know how that goes—or if you want to share a sample row, I’ll be happy to help validate the formatting further.

Hi @Ege Özdemir

Help us have more info about the error by posting these screenshots:

  • how your Zap steps are outlined
  • how your Zap steps are configured in EDIT mode with the field mappings visible in the CONFIGURE tab
  • the encountered error
