Question

First Zap will not Publish even after copilot Changes

Zap Configuration

  • Trigger: Subsplash "Person Updated"
  • Action: Mailchimp "Add/Update Subscriber" to "All Church - Second Baptist Evanston" audience

Root Cause Identified

The Zap contains problematic field mappings preventing publication:

  1. Empty Address Field: merges__ADDRESS__addr1: ""

    • Mailchimp requires all address fields when any address field is populated, causing validation errors with empty values
  2. Duplicate Merge Fields: Both standard (FNAME/LNAME) and custom (FNAMESK/LNAMESK) name fields are mapped, creating redundancy

Current Problematic Configuration

"merges__FNAME": "{{319596321__first_name}}"
"merges__LNAME": "{{319596321__last_name}}"
"merges__FNAMESK": "{{319596321__first_name}}" // Duplicate
"merges__LNAMESK": "{{319596321__last_name}}" // Duplicate
"merges__ADDRESS__addr1": "" // Empty field causing validation error

Steps Taken

  1. Tested Subsplash trigger - confirmed working correctly
  2. Analyzed Mailchimp field mappings and identified validation conflicts
  3. Attempted to remove problematic fields through updates
  4. Confirmed test data shows proper field availability from trigger

Remove the following fields from the Mailchimp step:

  • merges__ADDRESS__addr1 (empty address field)
  • merges__FNAMESK (duplicate of FNAME)
  • merges__LNAMESK (duplicate of LNAME)

Retain only essential fields:

  • email
  • merges__FNAME
  • merges__LNAME
  • member_status
  • list_id
  • update_existing
  • double_optin

After running these changes, the Zap STILL will not publish. I am at a loss. This doesn’t seem that complicated...
