I’m trying to run a GA4 report to add visitor/traffic data into Airtable, triggered at the end of each month.

I’ve put in GA4 account, property, start & end date. It also asks for Dimension - not sure what to put here but have tested a number of options. Metrics is set to Total users.

However, the test keeps failing:

Failed to create a run report in Google Analytics 4

Oops! Something went wrong. Google may be having issues with their API - please try again later.

Any ideas? Is this a Google problem? Frustrating as Google Analytics UA worked fine...

Hi @Hyde Phillips

For us to have more context, post these screenshots:

  • How the Zap steps are outlined and configured in EDIT mode
  • The encountered error

Hi @Troy Tessalone thanks for response - here are screenshots to show Zap.

As said I’ve tried a few ‘dimensions’ - not sure why this is a required field, none of the options seem relevant.

Tried a few variations on the date format too but all returning error.

Thanks in advance!

@Hyde Phillips

Check the field descriptions for the expected values and formats.

Report Start/End Date are in the wrong format.

The value is also the same date, which likely is not a valid combo across the fields.

Hi @Troy Tessalone

Tried updating format but same error. Dates are different btw - one’s June and the other’s July 2024.

@Hyde Phillips

Check your GAnalytics Zap app connection is still valid: https://zapier.com/app/connections

Try turning the Zap ON and testing live.

Then check the Zap Runs history details to see the Logs tab for the underlying API request that may contain more error response details to help you troubleshoot the Zap step configuration.

@Troy Tessalone sorted now - updating data format and changing dimension has worked. Cheers for help.

That’s awesome news @Hyde Phillips! A huge thanks to Troy for lending a hand here.
