Question

Failed to create a subscriber in MailerLite The app returned "The given data was invalid

hi there,

I have tried to create a zap to connect the data collected from my Google Forms (i.e. customer email) to my Mailerlite group,

however when I get to the step ‘Action’, the subscriber group is found in the list ok, but under email I entered my email address, and when I click on Test Step, I get the above-mentioned error message,

so I am not really sure what I am doing wrong?

could someone kindly advise?

I have tried twice and no luck, tried logging out of Zapier and come back again, still the same, recreated the Zap and same issue

thank you

Hi @lightfrequencies

Help us have full context by posting screenshots with how your steps are outlined and configured along with the encountered error.

Use this Zap action: MailerLite - Create/Update Subscriber

Map the email address from Step 1.

Select the Group.

thank you,

I have changed the action to create/update subscriber, and then added the same email address,

see errors attached

You should map the email address dynamic variable from Step 1 using the ‘CUSTOM’ tab.

@Troy Tessalone

you are gonna have to break it down for me a little bit more:)

what customer tab?

@lightfrequencies

‘CUSTOM’ tab.

@Troy Tessalone

thank you, It was my keyboard that wrote customer instead of custom:)

I've filled in the customer tab with the email address and name, as I would want them to appear in the mailerlite group, and now I have a new error message:)

For the Subscriber Groups field, you need to remove the 2 mapped variables.

@Troy Tessalone

LOL but that’s where the Customer field is:)

@Troy Tessalone

sorry hit enter too quickly

but that’s where the custom field is

see attached,

@Troy Tessalone

ok this time I didn’t do any of the custom entries like you told me,

I just re-entered the Subscriber group information,

then under email I re-entered the email address used in step 1, retested, and this time it sent the email address in the subscriber group,

this is something I have tried for the last 24 hours with errors, so it does look like it’s a glitch from the system somewhere

Are you confirming the Zap is working now?

Try turning your Zap ON and testing live by submitting the GForm.

Then check your Zap Runs history details to see the DATA IN/OUT for each step to trace the data flow.
