Hi all,

I am brand new to Zapier and I am running into an issue that is really doing my head in (yes, I tried their own AI which did nothing to solve the issue). I will try and be as clear as I can.

I have Systeme.io for my Tripwire Funnel and I use Mailerlite (ML) for the actual emails and newsletters (I hate the abysmal “newsletters” within Systeme.io).

First, I set up the Freebie Zap, and that works, no issues. Today, I am trying to set up the Zap for the offer (the tripwire). 

Step 1: Systeme.io - set up fine, there is green tick, no problems.

Step 2: Mailerlite:

• Action event: add subscriber to group
• Account: the correct account
• Configure: subscriber group - I selected the group I created in ML
• Email: customer email 

Then I get the error message: 

Failed to create a subscriber in MailerLite

MailerLite API returned an error: The email field must be a valid email address.

What this error means:
The error message "The email field must be a valid email address" indicates that the email address being passed to MailerLite is not in the correct format. This could be due to an extra character or incorrect data being included in the email field, such as a trailing slash ("/") in your input data.

How to fix it:

1. Check the Email Field: Ensure that the email address being passed from the previous step is valid and does not contain any extra characters, such as a trailing slash.
2. Verify Data Mapping: Confirm that the email field is correctly mapped to the output from the previous step, specifically the "customer » email" field.
3. Use Formatter Step: If the email field contains additional data, add a Formatter step to extract just the email address before it reaches the MailerLite action.
4. Test the Zap: After making adjustments, test the Zap to ensure that the email address is being sent correctly and that the error no longer occurs.

But I just don't understand what I need to do! I have ADHD and I am autistic, these troubleshooting steps to me are absolute gibberish! 

I have tried the “Formatter” step by using ‘text’ ‘transform’ = ‘extract email address’, ‘input’ = customer email, when testing it, the email address is shown next to ‘output’. Then, when I use the regular “customer email” option, I get the same error message as before; if I choose the Formatter output, I get:

Failed to create a subscriber in MailerLite

MailerLite API returned an error: The given data was invalid.”

I am at a total loss here. I don't know if there is still something within ML that is not right but the troubleshooting seems to indicate something is wrong within the previous step in the Zap, but I just don't know. 

I would really appreciate some help. Please keep in mind, being autistic, I need like proper steps, I need to be able to follow along and not leave guessing or “reading between the lines”, as unfortunately, that only makes things worse for me. I am already *this* close to just give up on everything.
