My flow is this…

  1. put a file in Box (the trigger)
  2. Move or copy file to a folder in Google Drive

As there seems to be issues with moving files put into a shared drive with Google Drive, I thought we could approach this problem by putting the folders into Box first then have them moved to a Google Drive.

I am using the file ID but this step does not recognize the file

I get an error message; it seems fairly simple but I guess I was wrong!

Thanks

Hi @blueguy

Good question.

The GDrive File field expects a file object or a file url, rather than a Box File ID.

Thanks Troy for jumping in here.

In the *File field, I am trying to put a File from the Box Drive; there is nothing from the Box Drop Down list that states “file object” or “file url”

Direct question: what field from the Box Drop Down (Step 1) goes into the *File field?

thanks/ all I am trying to do is move a file from Box to Google Drive.

@blueguy

Try using this field: File (Exists but not shown)

Thanks….I will give that a try; I am sure I used that and got a similar result.  But I will check again and report back!!

However, in an unrelated ZAP, that is the field that is used when identifying an attachment from an email and you want to upload that attachment to Google Drive.

thanks again, Sir!

That does not work either!!

Still getting an error message.

This is totally unrelated to you but the service (help desk) from Zapier is exceedingly slow; I am a very heavy user of their product too.

@blueguy

What is the error message? (screenshot)

Try refreshing the Zap trigger data and testing again.

The file objects are temp files that expire after some time.

I did try a new file; that is, I just put a new file in Box for testing purposes; same result however

Thanks again, Sir!

@blueguy

2 issues.

  1. You need to use this Zap action: GDrive - Upload File
  2. You need to use the internal GDrive Folder ID
    1. You will need to add a step before for: GDrive - Find/Create Folder

alrighty….I will play with it later

I am sure I will get it to work

Thanks as awlays

Thank you Troy

That worked!!  Sometimes I have brain farts; I try to do my research before  asking questions.

Until next time Sir!

Glad to hear you’re all set now, @blueguy! And thanks so much for following up here to confirm Troy’s suggestion did the trick, it’s much appreciated! 🤗
