Failed to create a conversation in ChatGPT (OpenAI) Unable to process request from OpenAI

I’m encountering the “Failed to create a conversation in ChatGPT (OpenAI) Unable to process request from OpenAI” problem.

Zap Workflow:

  1. Trigger: Wix Forms - New form submission
  2. Action: ChatGPT (OpenAI) - Conversation (failing step)
  3. Action: Gmail - Send Email

ChatGPT Step Configuration:

  • Model: gpt-5
  • Action: conversation_responses_api
  • Max Tokens: 2000
  • Response Format: text
  • Tool Choice: auto
  • Temperature: 1.0
  • Top P: 1.0

User Message Field includes:

  • Form data analysis request
  • Business context
  • Pricing structure instructions
  • Response formatting requirements

Error Details: When I test the ChatGPT step, I get the "failed to create a conversation..." error message.

Troubleshooting Attempted:

  • Verified OpenAI authentication is connected
  • Changed prompt to something very basic and still get the error message

Hi ​@mjkidd1985 welcome to the community and thanks for providing all the helpful context! 

From what you've described it sounds like it could be due to exceeding the usage quota for the OpenAI API. This is something that can happen if the account's current quota has been surpassed.
