I set up a Zap that pulls contact info from a spreadsheet and SHOULD add/update contact to EZ texting group. Working great except every change made creates a new contact instead of updating current contact. IE if I change an entry of Joe Schmoe’s phone number because it was a typo off by 1 number, I now have TWO Joe Schmoe.
Anyone have a fix?

Hi @mishi
For us to have more info, post screenshots showing how your Zap steps are outlined and configured in EDIT mode with the field mappings visible.
Step 1 part 1 step 1 part 2 step 2 split the first name and last step 3 split first name and last step 4 part 1 (selected create/update contact) step 4 part 2 (pulls all the information and uploads it to EZ texting)
It is supposed to automatically update the contact if they already exists but instead is creating a new contact for any change.

Hi @mishi
Click the field labels with underlines to see tooltips with more info about the field that may provide guidance.
Have you tried testing with the Zap ON?
Check your Zap Runs history details to see the DATA IN/OUT for each step to help you troubleshoot: https://zapier.com/app/history/
Check/try:
The format of the phone number
The combo of phone and email
If the contact is in the Group ID already
Yeah, I’ve tried running with it off and on. Either way when it turns on it adds the contacts but doesn’t check to see if it already exists.

You can try reaching out to EZ Texting Support for help troubleshooting their Zap app integration.
Hey @mishi!
Did EZ Texting’s Support team help to get this sorted? If not, it looks like the Phone Number field is a required field, so I suspect that the Create/Update Contact action may only use the phone number as the value to identify the contact. So if it’s a new number that’s supplied then that could explain why a new contact is created instead of having the existing number updated. Do you think that could be the case?
If that’s the case, then I’d recommend reaching out to our Support team to put in a feature request for the ability to set the Create/Update Contact action to identify contacts by their email instead of phone number. You can do that here: https://zapier.com/app/get-help
Keen to ensure you’re all set, so please keep us posted on how things are going!
