Hi everyone,

I’m running into a frustrating issue with a Zap that’s been working reliably — until now.

I have an Excel sheet (hosted on Sharpoint), where users enter data across a row. Once a row is complete, they fill in a “Status” column to confirm it’s finished. This column is also the trigger: I’m using “Updated Row in Microsoft Excel” in Zapier and have specified the Status column as the trigger field.

Up until recently, everything was working fine. Whenever “Status” was updated, the Zap triggered as expected. But now, it’s stopped picking up changes completely. Even when I manually edit the file or try testing from Zapier, nothing happens.

Interestingly, I’ve had this issue once before when I was building the Zap a while ago — and it resolved itself after some time. But this is part of a process that multiple users rely on, so I really need a stable solution.

Here are some screenshots:

Here’s the file. I highlighted the column it should pick up. In the example below row the first row (99) should trigger my zap while the second row (100) should not. But the zap does not pick up anything. I’ve waited for over half an hour, tested manually…. nothing.

Has anyone experienced something similar or have ideas on what else I could check?

Thanks in advance!

Nora

Hi @InKonstellation, welcome to the Community! 🎉

Sorry to hear that your Zap has stopped triggering suddenly. Have you made any structural changes to the Zap recently? Deleted some rows, renamed the workbook or sheet for example?

If so, that might have caused a disconnect between the Zap and the workbook. Updates to the Status for a row should be fine, but before making a more structural kind of change you’d want to turn the Zap off before you make the change, then turn it back on afterwards.

You can learn more about this here: Workbook updates and maintenance

Hope that helps. If you run into any issues or have any further questions at all, please let us know! 🙂

Hey @InKonstellation, just checking in! Did turning the Zap off and on again help to get the Zap working again?

Want to make sure you’re all set—happy to assist further if you’re still stuck at all.

Hey @SamB

Thanks for the Reply.

I tried the approach of deactivating and activating it, unfortunately without a change.
We did notice a short time where it worked yesterday, and all of a sudden it stopped. I checked the history of the workbook and there were no changes on the structure, just data changes.

Any other ideas?

Thanks,
Nora

Thanks so much for getting back to me @InKonstellation, and sorry for the delay in my reply!

Hmm, did any of the data changes that took place include deleting all the data from existing rows? If so, perhaps that might be what caused it to stop working again. 🤔

If that’s not the case, then it might be best to reach out to our Support team so they can investigate this further: https://zapier.com/app/get-help

Keep us posted!
