Error when uploading file to OneDrive

squareeye

Hello.  We have a workflow that has worked fine for years;  it receives an email with a PDF attachment (via Email by Zapier), and then uploads the PDF to a OneDrive folder.  But now we’re getting this error, and can’t work out why:

Failed to create a file in OneDrive

Error from halted execution:

If we replace the OneDrive step with a Google Drive step, it uploads fine.  Nothing seems wrong with the OneDrive login credentials.

Grateful if anyone has any advice!

Sorry to hear you’re running into this issue as well, @Matt844. Totally understand how frustrating that must be—especially since your Zap has been working for years without problems.

I’ve taken a look into the bug report that the Support team added you to and that seems a bit different to the error being discussed here. So I did some further digging and found a different bug report around authentication issues that result in a “Error from halted execution” error on OneDrive’s Upload File actions. So I’ve gone ahead and added you, and everyone else here that’s running into these errors, to that bug report.

As the Support team said, we’re not able to give a timeline on when you can expect a fix but we’ll definitely be in touch as soon as it’s sorted. And I’ll be sure to share any updates or workarounds I come across in the meantime. Really appreciate your patience on this while the team are working on getting this resolved.

Please do let me know if there’s anything else I can help with in the meantime.

Hi @squareeye

Help us have more context by posting these screenshots:

  • the encountered error in the Zap Run step
  • how your Zap step is configured in EDIT mode with the field mappings visible

Hey @Shev, thanks for reaching out here as well! I saw your similar message in another thread and have replied there with a suggestion. You can check it out here:

Same issue here. I’ve had a simple zap working for years that just sends a pdf into a personal OneDrive account.  All of a sudden it stopped working and I’m getting an error message. I’ve tried clearing cache, reconnecting, etc and nothing works.

I submitted a support ticket to zap your help and they basically told me thanks for submitting this, but we’re not going to do anything about it. Super frustrating.  Here is their response:

I was checking further on this and it appears you might be running into a bug where "App connections are being marked as "Stale" and needing to be reconnected frequently, even though users can simply Test the connection, which usually succeeds and reconnects the account." It should be "App connections are not frequently marked as stale."

I’ve confirmed that this matches an existing issue reported by other users so I’ll let our engineering team know you’ve experienced this as well. There is not currently a workaround for this issue.

Here’s what’s happening next:

  1. Issue Logging: I have logged your report in our internal issue tracking system and added your email to the notification list for this issue.
  2. Timing: Our development team prioritizes these types of reports based on overall impact. We try to unblock issues as soon as we can, however at the moment we can’t provide an exact timeline as to when this will be resolved.

Keeping You in the Loop:

  • Email Updates: We'll send you an email as soon as there's a fix or identified workaround. This will include any steps you might need to take on your end, such as updating your Zap.

Doing my research and found these posts, I have had issues uploading files through zapier and pdf.co since later 2024 randomly too…

Using One Drive Business

Test says successful but the file never uploads. It actually creates a whole new folder with a name full of numbers and capital letters or http for example:

One Drive > drives > b!rWDKcCcu7ES7VZzMm6q44H8UUVFVSmpGjF-U1xnRvf3vt44J41sxQLnC8PsdzIQ3 > root > [replicates file path requested folders and names] then uploads the pdf here.

It’s just not making the correct linkage on the file path.

Interesting, thanks for the information. I just checked and I don’t see any new files, so I don’t think that’s my issue but I appreciate your reply!
