Error connecting Quizell to Flodesk due to missing email field

I’m getting a “Required “Email” (email) is missing.” error when trying to connect Quizell to Flodesk.

My testing (within Zapier) is successful and I do see Flodesk populate new leads when I test in Zapier.

However, when I try to test manually outside of Zapier, it gives this error and does not populate.

This has been happening for several months.

I’m including screenshots below of the complete setup and error.

Hi @ReneeLaraStyle

From a Zap Run with an error, post screenshots showing the DATA OUT from the Zap trigger step.

In your Zap Runs history details, check the DATA IN tab to see the data that would be sent for the action step.

@ReneeLaraStyle

For the Zap Run with the error, post screenshots showing the DATA OUT from Zap step 1.

@ReneeLaraStyle
Please also post these screenshots:

  • How your Zap Step 2 is configured in EDIT mode with the field mappings visible
  • For the Zap Run with an error, for Zap step 2, the DATA IN tab

Hi there @ReneeLaraStyle,

My hunch here is that the sample data when setting up the Zap is different from when the Zap runs. I suggest utilizing the custom pill mapping method. You can learn more about that here:

Kindly give it a try and let me know how it goes? I'll keep an eye out for your response!

Thank you! I tried that before reaching out and was not able to get a resolution. I tested manually as I know we can’t test the pill method within Zapier.

I just tried again. Let me know if I’m missing anything, as the instructions aren’t lining up with what I’m seeing (the URL structure is different).

I’m including screenshots for each of my three tests below.

My URL: https://zapier.com/editor/289049911/published/289050060/sample

The Data Out after a failed run:

TEST ONE

The Pill I’m using for this test: {{289050060_Email}}

Failed:

TEST TWO

The Pill I’m using for this test: {{289050060_Data Email}}

TEST THREE

The Pill I’m using for this test: {{289050060_data_Data Email}}  > > The first “data” is being automatically capitalized when I enter this pill. I’m not sure if that matters, but it should be “data_Data Email” for this test.

Please let me know what our next steps in getting this resolved should be. This should be a very simple integration since it is only one data point, but neither the standard method of data transfer through Zapier nor the pill method seem to be working.

Thank you!

Hi @ReneeLaraStyle,

You've done solid troubleshooting so far. Ensure your data is properly formatted, your accounts are reconnected, and your trigger/action setup is correct. Also, ensure all apps and Zapier are up to date. If the issue persists, sharing more details and visuals with our Zapier support team will help diagnose the problem more accurately.

I hope this information helps. Please feel free to reach out if you have any other questions or concerns. We're here to assist you!

Thank you! Unfortunately, I’m on a free plan and don’t need the additional features of the Pro plan. Can you let me know which pill format I should be using and confirm I’m using the correct node number, since the tutorial is dated and no longer aligns with the current URL structures?

Hi @ReneeLaraStyle,

If you're on the free plan and need help with pill formats and node numbers, use the pill that matches the desired data (for example, "Task Name" for task details). The node number corresponds to the step number in your Zap—use "3" for data from step 3, for example. These are used within the URL structure, like https://hooks.zapier.com/hooks/catch/n/abcdef/, where abcdef is your Zap's unique code.

I hope this helps. If you have any other questions or run into any issues, please feel free to ask.
