I am having an issue. I have it set up to take acuity appointment information and update a google contact (if no contact is found to create a new one). However, anyone who is already in contacts gets duplicate entry not an update. I have posted screenshots of setup.
Hi
Can you post screenshots showing proof of duplicates being created from GContacts?
Also, post screenshots from your live Zap Runs history details that shows the DATA IN/OUT for each step.
Issue may be related to the format of the phone number variable value being used as the Search By field value.
If you need to standardized or change phone number formats, use this Zap action:
- Formatter > Numbers > Format Phone Number
ok, here we are
Hunch...in GContacts there are different types of phone numbers. (e.g. Mobile)
The Zap step 2 search by field is Phone Number.
That may only be searching a specific type of Phone Number and thus why not finding a match, thus creating the duplicate contact.
so what can i do to fix it?
I’m not sure about the solution to fix.
May be related to how your existing GContacts data is configured.
You can try opening a ticket with Zapier Support to see if they can provide any guidance about the GContacts API request/response happening in the background.
Hey there,
I had a look on this end but doesn’t look like you’ve got any tickets open with our Support team—were you since able to get this sorted?
If not, perhaps it might be worth switching the Find Contact action to search for the contact by their email address instead of their phone number. I’m thinking that might allow the Zap to find the existing contacts as their would likely be just one email per contact.
Keen to ensure you’re all set so please keep us updated on how you’re getting on!
