Due Dates not Triggering on Trello cards after updating Trello app in Zapier

I recently updated our Trello Zaps from the deprecated Trello app to the new one. Once I did that, my Card Due triggers are no longer triggering. I have cards that are Due in Trello, but when I try to test the trigger it comes back and tells me that there are no cards due in my account.

Anyone else having issues like this?

Hi @PTrevethan 👋

I just came across this thread and spotted our Support team added you to a bug where the Card Due Trigger isn’t triggering as expected. They suggested a workaround which appears to have done the trick so I’ll share the details of that here in case it’s useful for anyone else that might also be having similar trouble:

“In the meantime, I have a suggestion for a workaround that may help after I've completed some testing on my own account. I set up two Zaps with a due time of 5 minutes before the Due Date, one Zap using the legacy version and one using the current version. Only the legacy test came through.

Would you mind reverting to the Legacy version of the Trello app while the team looks into this? Let me know if you can't see it in the app drawer:

Thanks for your ongoing patience on this. I’ll follow up here if there are any updates on the status of the bug report, but do let me know if there’s anything else I can help with in the meantime! 🙂

Hi @PTrevethan

Help us have more info by posting screenshots showing how your Zap Trello trigger step is configured in EDIT mode with the field mappings visible.

Sure thing. I’ve got it setup to trigger at 21 days before due… We use it to send a quick email prep to the client’s customer.

I tested this when it was reported as not working by creating a brand new card set to be due in 22 days, and then I waited 2 days before I got a chance to check on it again. When I did, I found that it did not trigger. When I then went in to do a “Test” in the edit screens, that would still only bring up a dummy data record that I’m completely unfamiliar with…

Trigger Configuration
Dummy data that comes back when doing a “Test”.

You can try reporting this as a possible bug to Zapier Support: https://zapier.com/app/get-help

You can try exploring workarounds using native Trello automation options:

Yep, working with them on it now. Will update here if we find the root cause. :) But yeah, feels like a “bug”...

Yeah, this is what we did as a workaround. The issue I had when I did it was that the Legacy Trello app was not available in the search. I had to go to a previous unused zap that just happened to have that trigger in the flow. I was able to copy/paste that to replace and activate that app on the zaps where we needed it….

Has the legacy Trello app been added back into the mix so that people won’t encounter the bug? I have to wonder why the new app is continuing to even be available while such a bug exists. It’s clear this isn’t a quick fix.

Thanks so much for flagging that, @PTrevethan! 🙂 Right now, the legacy version of the Trello app hasn’t been reintroduced. Totally understand your concerns on this and it’s definitely not an ideal situation to have to make a copy of another Zap that’s using the old version of the Trello app, just to gain access the legacy version of the Card Due trigger. The team are aware of this and as soon as there are any updates, I’ll be sure to share them here.

What do you suppose is the challenge to making the legacy app available to everyone? Especially considering the team is aware of the problem and the workaround…
