Does Zap Reference Google Sheet Column Based on Name or Address?

I’m trying to figure out if there is a way to create a zap so that if I add a column to my google sheet I would not have to reconfigure the whole zap for subsequent columns. It doesn’t seem to automatically do this, but I figured there may be a way to have it look for the column header instead so no matter where it moves in a google sheet table, it would not break all the zaps made prior to the new configuration.

Hi @LC Claims,

Welcome to the Community.

Zapier can't automatically adjust to new columns added in Google Sheets, as it works with the column structure present during setup. To address this, you can add placeholder columns during setup and rename them as needed, ensuring they remain mapped in the Zap. Alternatively, use a parser to treat an entire row as text and separate data by delimiters, which accommodates new columns but requires more setup. Always test your Zaps after making changes to ensure proper functionality.
