"Data Out" does not match "Data In" in my zap history -- who needs to fix?

I can see in the Data In field in my Zap History details that the field I need is present (purchasedItems:1)

But in the Data Out, it’s missing. Why? This is the correct data that needs to be sent.

Now what do I do? It should have been in [User Purchased Items] [1], I believe. At least that’s where it is on the Data In screen. And the field I am choosing is from a pre-built integration by the receiving product, not some random thing I built myself.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks,

Hi @AshaL

The DATA IN represents the data sent to the app as part of the API REQUEST.

The DATA OUT represents the data returned from the app as part of the API RESPONSE.

For us to have more info, post these screenshots:

  • how your Zap steps are outlined
  • how your Zap steps are configured in EDIT mode in the CONFIGURE tab with the field mappings visible

Thank you so much! That is really helpful.

I misunderstood that. I thought OUT meant sending out from Zapier.

That clarifies my answer. If that shows blank, it’s because the data sent does not match an existing item in the receiving API items list.

Very helpful! 🙏
