I'm encountering a critical error when attempting to post a video through Zapier's Instagram for Business integration.
Zapier is currently using a deprecated version of the Instagram Business API. In the Instagram Business App, Zapier only supports two post types: Image and Video. However, the Video media type (VIDEO) has been deprecated by Instagram. According to Facebook's latest API documentation, the proper media type for video posts is now Reels (REELS).
Here is the error message returned during the Zap run:
This Instagram for Business step hit an error
Could not upload video file. Invalid parameter: Unsupported media type VIDEO: The VIDEO value for media_type is deprecated. Use the REELS media type to publish a video to your Instagram feed. Please visit https://developers.facebook.com/docs/instagram-api
I investigated this issue with Facebook API Support, and they confirmed that the problem is on Zapier’s side. Zapier has not updated the media_type to support REELS, which means users can no longer publish videos to Instagram through Zapier. This limitation effectively blocks any ability to post Reels or standard video content using Zapier’s Instagram integration.
To clarify:
The Video type used in Zapier is deprecated and no longer accepted by Instagram’s API.
The correct replacement is Reels (REELS), but this is not yet supported in Zapier.
As a result, any Zap attempting to upload video content will fail until Zapier updates the integration to align with the current Instagram API standards.
For reference, I can provide a specific log of a failed run:

Note: The app used in this Zap has since been deleted due to the frequent errors encountered, but this particular run still shows the problem clearly.
Please let me know if you need anything else from my end. This is a critical blocker, and I’d appreciate it if your team could prioritize updating the Instagram integration to support the required media types.
Thanks.
