Hi Zapier community,

I am trying to connect to Zapier AWS SQS connector and connection is failing due to limited permissions GETQUEUE URL and LIST Queue Permissions. Aware this is a limitation in zapier but interested to see anyone overcome this issue. I have reached out to support, and they cannot help much and said they will add it to roadmap. Its almost more than a year ago I have raised this issue. I wanted to use zapier to connect to SQS queue to configure workflows but unfortunately this is one of the many limitations I have see so far.

authentication failed: User: arn:aws:iam::{{id}}:user/{{name}} is not authorized to perform: sqs:listqueues on resource: arn:aws:sqs:{{aws_region}:{{id}}: because no identity-based policy allows the sqs:listqueues action

I have queuename, access and secret key but in zapier there is option to add queuename and we can only connect with credentials and this failing

This is the SQS queue details provided by third party application - Saas platform to connect to SQS queue to stream data from their application and to read and do not provide permissions as above (ListQueues) as they do not want to list other queues (other client queues) in the AWS account. Is there a way to circumvent and connect to SQS without those permissions.

  1. Is there a way we can configure specific IAM credentails to access above queue in Zapier
  2. Has anyone aware of the issue and zapier fixing this on their roadmap
  3. Has anyone any workarounds to overcome the issue such as own configuration/app connector or other tools (not Boomi) ?

Boomi platform has the SQS connector and able to connect as we can add the queuename and be able to successfully connect.

Boomi documentation:

You can retrieve the queue and connect successfully without your account having the GetQueueUrl and ListQueues permissions. To circumvent the permissions, manually specify the queue URL when browsing an operation (Import Wizard), or using the Queue Name/Url document property.

Hi @Knight FM

You can try a custom integration using these native Zap apps:
