Connecting ClickFunnels to Zoho CRM for automatic tagging

I want to connect ClickFunnels to Zoho CRM. Those who sign up on CLICKFUNNELS should be saved automatically to ZOHO CRM with a specific tag.

When I tried doing sample sign up, it goes to my Zoho CRM but the tag isn’t automatically added

Hi @Zyra
The contact is being created correctly but the tag isn't applying because adding a tag in Zoho CRM requires a separate step after the contact is created. In your Zap, after the "Create Contact" action in Zoho, add another Zoho CRM action and look for "Add Tag" or "Update Contact" and map the tag field there. The tag won't apply automatically as part of the contact creation step alone.

Hi @Zyra

Here's the Zapier doc that might help: link

The issue is that the "Create Contact" action in Zoho CRM doesn't reliably add tags. Here's the verified fix:

Instead of adding the tag during contact creation, add a separate action step to your Zap:

  1. Keep your existing Create Contact action (or change to Find Module Entry if contacts may already exist)

  2. Add a second action – search for and select Add Tag in Zoho CRM

  3. Configure the Add Tag step:

    • Module: Select Contacts or Leads

    • Find By: Choose Email (most reliable)

    • Email: Map from your ClickFunnels trigger data

    • Tag Label: Enter your tag name (e.g., "ClickFunnels Signup")

  4. Test the Zap – verify the tag appears on the contact in Zoho CRM

Why This Works:

Zoho CRM has a dedicated Add Tag API endpoint specifically for this purpose. Multiple official Zapier integration templates use this two-step pattern (Create/Find + Add Tag) for reliable tagging.

Hope this helps you get it sorted! And let me know how it goes — happy to dig deeper if needed!

Most likely, the lead is being created in Zoho CRM, but the tag is not being added in the same step.

Simple fix:

  1. Trigger: new signup in ClickFunnels
  2. Action 1: create or update the lead/contact in Zoho CRM
  3. Action 2: add the tag to that same Zoho record

Why:

  • Zoho CRM supports tags on records, but tags are usually handled as a separate tagging action, not automatically just because the record was created.
  • Zapier’s ClickFunnels setup can trigger from new contact activity, then send that data to Zoho CRM.

Also check:

  • the tag already exists in Zoho, or Zapier is allowed to create/use it
  • you are tagging the same module you created, like Leads or Contacts
  • the second Zap step is using the Zoho record ID from the create/update step

So the short answer is:

Creating the person in Zoho and tagging the person are usually 2 separate steps in Zapier.

Hey @Zyra,

Try using Add tag action for adding tags in Zoho CRM.

Your workflow will look something like this-

  • Contact Submitted Form trigger
  • Create/Update Module Entry action
  • Add tag action

This is a sample workflow and you may need other actions like Filter, Formatter etc as workflows are usually personalized to user’s needs. Hope it helps!
