Hello,

I’d like to connect a Webflow form to a Google Form. I have successfully linked the Webflow form in Zapier, but I cannot access the correct Google Form.

I have connected my Google account, but cannot choose any specific forms. I cannot choose an Action event, all Zapier gives me is a blank field with no options to choose. Anything I type; Send, Submit, Post, Get, does absolutely nothing.

So how do you connect them? I don’t get it. Or can you?

Essentially, this large form has sensitive information and is currently linked from a webpage. My intention was to replicate the form in Webflow so it can be styled, but pass the responses to Google Forms.

My understanding was that you could simply match the field names with the corresponding Google form fields and link them up. So all the data is collected securely in Google forms.

What am I missing?

Thanks in advance.

Will

Hi @Will Price Studio

GForms Zap app integration available triggers/actions: https://zapier.com/apps/google-forms/integrations#triggers-and-actions

There is only 1 action available: API Request

That is an advanced approach.

Thanks for the response Troy.

At first glance; oh no.

Accessibility?

I can’t seem to find any clear information on how to set this up properly and the interface isn’t great. You wouldn’t happen to know of a decent how-to guide for a non-dev?

Thanks,
Will

@Will Price Studio

Generally advanced approaches using app APIs won’t have available how to guides.

Depends on the app API endpoint being used and those requirements in that documentation.

If available, try using AI to create a Custom Action: https://help.zapier.com/hc/en-us/articles/16276574838925-Custom-Actions-in-Zapier

Thanks Troy, but the AI is spitting out all kinds of info I don’t understand.

The URL for Google Forms doesn’t work, it just shows field names from my Weblfow build and gives me an error. I have no idea what URL string I should use, it isn’t clear at all.

Surely this should be automatic?

I had hoped this was a case of linking two accounts and matching fields. That’s the premise of Zapier. But it looks like I’ll need a full day of research or more, trial and error or ask a developer to do this.

It’s dead in the water.

@Will Price Studio

Configuring automations at this point in time is still a manual process with some AI to help here and there.

Zapier handles much of the complex parts of automation such as app authentications and underlying API requests/responses.

However, the logic that Field X from App A should map to Field Y from App B is really up to you to define since there are unlimited possibilities.

Since there is no available Zap action for GForms to create form submission, that means the GForms API has to be explored as a possible option if that is even supported by the GForms API.

Using app APIs in Zaps is an advanced approach as it involves technical concepts.

I had hoped it was easier.

Connect Webflow and select the form, then connect Google Forms and select the form. Then use the Zapier interface to manually connect up the individual fields.

It’s not so much the time it takes, but the ease of which Zapier connects. It fails in this instance. I’ll need to research the Google API/API Request docs just to find out how to link it to Google Forms. Then work out how to connect each form field.

It’s not what Zapier promises. At all.

But I thank you for the assistance. Have a great weekend.

But they should definitely fix this…

Jakob Nielsen would have a fit. 😀

@Will Price Studio

Where did Zapier promise this workflow would be possible to automate? (link / screenshot)

We're looking forward to your response.

Hi JammerS,

Thanks for the follow up. I will need to do more research as it looks like Zapier isn’t able to link WF to GF easily, or possibly at all. A different approach might be needed.

Best,
Will
