Question

ClickUp Zap Halting Even Though Tests Work – What Am I Missing?

Hey everyone,

I have a super simple Zap that should be checking today’s date and matching it against any tasks in ClickUp that have that date in the “1st Follow-Up” customer field.

When I go into edit mode and test each step, everything works fine—it finds the matching task in ClickUp as expected. But when I publish and run the Zap live, it halts, saying nothing was found in ClickUp.

I’m stumped. Is there something I might be missing? Could this be a timing issue, a permissions issue, or something else entirely? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance!

Hi @TeamBrightSpark

At what time of day and in what time zone is your Zap running?

  • Check your Zapier account time zone settings.
  • Check your Zap time zone settings.

Hi Tony!

It’s triggering at 9:30am (EST).

@TeamBrightSpark

What about screenshots showing the DATA IN/OUT for the other Zap steps?

Sorry Tony! I thought I had put them all in there!

@TeamBrightSpark

Screenshots for DATA IN for Zap step 3 do not show all of the field mappings.

Unless otherwise specified, if you are trying to pass a date, try using this format: YYYY-MM-DD

Even with YYYY-MM-DD formatting I am getting no luck …

@TeamBrightSpark

Screenshot below for Zap step 3 DATA IN still does not show all of the fields mappings.

It does not show how any dynamic fields from Zap steps 1 or 2 are used in Zap step 3 related to the date.

You may also want to post screenshots showing how the Zap step 3 is configured in the CONFIGURE tab with the field mappings for all fields visible.

NOTE: This can be more difficult to troubleshoot without seeing how the records are configured in ClickUp.

Troy … here is a screenshot of the clickup table for you too! I am expecting Heather’s record to appear as today’s date is showing in the 1st Follow-Up column.

Hi @TeamBrightSpark,

I noticed that the date format mapped in the “Find a List of All Tasks” action is different in your ClickUp app. I believe the Find step for ClickUp needs to be an exact match. Could you please try inputting “Today” on the “1st Follow-Up” field?

Kindly give it a try and let me know how it goes? I'll keep an eye out for your response!

Hi Ken,

The challenge is that I am unable to set the date formatter (step 2.) to “Today” … or am I? Do you know how I can do that?

Hi @TeamBrightSpark,

You might need to utilize Code by Zapier to convert the date to “Today”. You can test this on your end by using our “Generate with AI” button. Here’s more information about that: https://help.zapier.com/hc/en-us/articles/15666688064013-Generate-a-Code-step-using-AI-Beta

Please note that, our team can provide limited support with the Code by Zapier app. It's an advanced feature that can involve lots of custom code and can quickly land outside of our scope of knowledge. If you haven't already, definitely read through our documentation to make sure your code is following our guidelines and all your inputs and outputs are set correctly:

You might want to check out our Zapier Community specifically, the "Code & Webhooks" category:
