I’m trying to start a conversation with ChatGPT as an action. When I do, I get the following error message.

Failed to create a conversation in ChatGPT (OpenAI): 'NoneType' object has no attribute 'name'

I see that somebody else had a similar problem and it was related to their data type, but I’m just trying to get it to prompt ChatGPT to do a web search and create a newsletter. I’m very new to this, so likely missing something basic. Below are my screenshots. How do I fix this?

Hi @Sporky03

Help links for using the ChatGPT/OpenAI Zap App: https://zapier.com/apps/chatgpt/integrations#help

Based on your screenshot, I’m not sure the AI has enough info to do what you want.

For one, you have no Memory Key set for it to reference previous conversations.

Seems like you either need to fill out more fields and/or add more info into the filled out fields.

TIP: Click underlined field labels to see tooltips with more info.

Thanks for the response. I’ve tried adding the Memory Key with no luck. I’ve also tried adding instructions. Looking at them, I don’t think that the “Files”, “Images”, or “Tools” fields make any sense to fill in, am I missing something there?

@Sporky03

  1. Make sure you are using the current version of the Zap app
  2. Click the refresh button to make sure all of the fields are present
  3. Try adding more instructions to the field: User Message

Hey @Sporky03 👋

How are things going on this? Did Troy’s suggestions help you to fix that “'NoneType' object has no attribute 'name'” error?

Keen to make sure this gets sorted, so please let us know how it went! 🙂
