Total noob here and I’ve been working on this automation for days now and I’m so close, but I can’t get one part to work.

Here’s what I’m trying to do:

- I have a Google Form that asks for a name and surname, email address, heading, body text, and a call to action.

- The Zap is connected to Canva, where I have a pre-created template.

- When someone fills out the form, Zapier should take those form responses, duplicate my Canva template, update the text on it with the submitted details, export the finished design, and email it out automatically.

Everything in the Zap works perfectly, the form triggers correctly, Canva duplicates the template, it exports, and the email sends out, but Canva isn’t updating the text. None of the text from the Google Form (heading, body, call to action, or name/surname) is being populated on the template before it exports.

I’ve tried adjusting the fields and mapping everything, but Canva just keeps exporting the default text from the template. I feel like I’m missing a simple step but can’t figure out what it is.

Has anyone managed to get Canva to update a design’s text dynamically using Zapier? Or is there maybe a workaround I’m missing?

Any help would be hugely appreciated!

Thanks so much,

Burnedine

Hey @Burnedine,

I don’t think it’s possible through native actions/. triggers. Here is the link for Canva integration in Zapier- https://zapier.com/apps/canva/integrations

It’s possible though Autofill API but you do need an enterprise Canva subscriptions for that. See more about it here- https://www.canva.dev/docs/connect/autofill-guide. If you have that, you can Webhooks in Zapier to query the Autofill API. Hope it helps!

Hi @Sparsh from Automation Jinn

I have canva pro. And from googling i saw you can create an app and then use that API. Speaking as a complete beginner, so i’m nit actually sure how to get it to work.

Hey @Burnedine,

I think Autofill API is different than the normal Canva API. You need Canva enterprise for that and not the Canva Pro. Hope it helps!
