Hi all,

I’m created a Zap where ideally after a Docusign is completed, a record (Case) is created in Salesforce, and the completed Docusign is attached to the case. My current steps are rEnvelope Completed in Docsuign] →  Create Record in Salesforce] → cFind Record in Salesforce] → fCreate Attachment in Salesforce]. I do not see any options for Creating an Attachment for the actual PDF of the completed Docusign form, and when I select to create an attachment of the Form Data, I get the below error.

If I use any other available fields and omit form data, the attachment of a .txt file is created in Chatter on the Case. Is there a way I am missing to attach the completed Docusign? If I have to move forward with the Form Data as the attachment, is there an issue with the Docusign fields themselves?

Any guidance is appreciated!

Hi @eparr767

Good question.

Please post detailed screenshots with how your Create Attachment step is configured in order for us to have more context, thanks.

Help article about using files in Zaps: https://zapier.com/help/create/basics/send-files-in-zaps

FYI: You likely don’t need this Zap step: Salesforce - Find Record

That is because the create record (Case) step will return the Case ID you want to link the attachment to.

Thanks for the reply, Troy!

Here are details of how I am configuring step 3 and 4. Happy to cut out step 3 if its overkill.

@eparr767

Yeah, step 3 is redundant, so you can remove that, and simply map the Record ID from Step 2.

The File field expects a file URL OR a file object (like you have mapped).

Some things to check/try:

  1. Make sure you are using a fresh example from the DocuSign trigger: https://help.zapier.com/hc/en-us/articles/8496310366093
  2. Check your Salesforce settings don’t have limitations about attachments on Cases.
  3. If the issues persists, you can try opening a ticket with Zapier Support: https://zapier.com/app/get-help

Thanks for the context, Troy. Removing step 3 didn’t cause any issues. I looked into the first 2 things on your checklist, and those are both fine. I will try support.

Do you happen to know if its possible to attach the completed Docusign to the file, rather than attaching the form data? I don’t see any options in the File dropdown to select any sort of PDF, but that would solve this issue as well.

@eparr767

Would need to see screenshots of all the data points returned from DocuSign.
