Are Sub-Zaps down?

Hello,

Since yesterday, sub-zaps don’t seem to be working on other zaps.

When I add a sub-zap step, the dropdown list is very limited: it says “Loaded 6 results.” and only shows the 6 most recently used zaps (even though I have 40+ subzaps), with no option to refresh or expand this list. Even selecting one of these zaps does not work, as it seems there are no inputs to link towards.

When I try to manually add the id of the sub-zap in the Select your Subzap dropdown, I get an error message (even though I’m 100% sure my Sub-Zap has a Return step):

Input was sent to the selected Sub-Zap, but the Sub-Zap does not have a "Return From a Sub-Zap" action configured, so no output was received. Please configure that, and then return here to Retest.

Hi @xavierB

Issue likely has to do with the Sub-Zaps version being used.

Make sure to update your Sub-Zaps to the newest version.

Then try again.

I encountered this as well and encourage you to open a ticket with Zapier Support to share your feedback.

Oh… this does seem to be the issue.

Does that mean I have to go and manually open and update all my 40+ sub-zaps? 😅

Hi @xavierB

When you contact Zapier Support, make sure to include these details:

  • The exact error: Dropdown only shows "Loaded 6 results", and manually entering the Zap ID gives the "no Return step" error even though the Return step exists.

  • What you've confirmed: The Sub-Zap definitely has both the required "Start a Sub-Zap" trigger and "Return from a Sub-Zap" action.

  • When it started: This began happening "yesterday" (or the specific date).

  • What you've tried: Re-authenticating connections, checking Task History, and verifying the Sub-Zap structure.

  • Screenshots: Include images of the limited dropdown, the error message, and your Sub-Zap setup showing the Return step.

This gives their support team everything they need to escalate it quickly.
