Bot icon not showing in Slack channel preview despite appearing in thread

Hi!
When my bot replies to a thread, the channel preview doesn’t show the icon and it’s blank, but it shows up in the thread itself. Can you please help?

Hi there ​@Funkypotato, welcome to the Community! 🎉 

I see that you also reached out to our Support team about this and they noted that it’s not currently possible to show the bot icon in previews for the threaded replies due to a limitations in Slack’s API. They added you to an existing feature request for this but as it requires a changes to be made to Slack’s API we’re unable to move forward with implementing that feature request until the functionality is made available on Slack’s end. We don’t have any estimate as to when it might become possible for us to implement it but we’ll definitely be in touch via email as soon as it’s sorted! 

That said, the preview should be displaying your Slack workspace’s icon there, and not appearing blank as per your screenshot. 🤔 If the workspace doesn’t have an icon set, then that could be why there’s no icon displayed.

But assuming the workspace does have an icon selected, does this same behavior happen with other bot messages posted in threads or is only this bot affected? If you log out and then log back into your Slack account does that get the icon appearing correctly?

Also, are other Slack members able to see the workspace icon displayed or does the icon appear blank for them as well?
