Question

Unable to select a different slack bot to send message to user in Slack.

I am needing to send a message to a user in Slack as a bot with the custom name of Support Bot directly. Right now, when I do the Slack action ‘Send Direct Message’ it does ask me if I want to send as bot but the message shows up in Slackbot with the name of Support Bot. I want it to show up as if it is from my Support Bot directly not Slackbot.

I’ve connected, deleted and reconnected, etc to the Slack workspace, thinking it needed to pull in the newly installed slack app/bot, but it does not show up. I can’t see my slack installed app/bot as any options. I’ve confirmed that it is installed on Slack. I’ve read the documentation that the default is Slackbot, but if there is a default then there must be a way to have it sense other bots to send as, right?

What configuration am I missing to have the Support Bot selectable or show up in Actions for the Slack integration?

Any help will be appreciated. Thank you.

Hey there! Hope you’re well. At the moment it’s not possible to connect as a bot, but we there is a feature request open asking for this to be made possible. I’ve added your email to the request, and we’ll reach out when there’s a resolution.

As you’ve mentioned, it is possible to rename the Slackbot, but it won’t actually be the bot you’re wanting to use.
