I'm trying to take popular/top reddit posts and tweet them out on a twitter similar to https://twitter.com/OsuGameTweet but with images instead of text.


My subreddit is /r/OneTrueMiia, and my twitter account is @OneTrueMiia and I'm trying to take popular posts to twitter to make it easier for users.

Hi @MyAngelMiia - good seeing you over here from Reddit.

So, I looked into this a bit more for you - it's possible.

In your trigger data from Reddit, this is what you're looking for:

Screen Shot 2019-10-15 at 10.33.55.pngHowever, if you change the URL a bit, by removing everything after and including the ? and changing "https://preview." to "https://i."... you get the image you want:

  • That image URL is in something called a 'line item', you need to make it text:

  • Then you need to split that resulting 'text' before the '?':
  • Screen Shot 2019-10-15 at 10.40.35.pngScreen Shot 2019-10-15 at 10.40.54.pngThen finally you just need to replace "https://preview." with "https://i."

    So I managed to sort of get the bot to work. But it doesn't do it for every post?

    @MyAngelMiia - to your other questions, this zap will only trigger on posts that get categorised as hot by the Reddit algorithm:

    Screen Shot 2019-10-15 at 10.47.33.pngThe other option you have is to use the "New Post or Comment Matching Search in Reddit" trigger:

    Screen Shot 2019-10-15 at 10.50.12.pngThe only issue with that is you can't narrow to specific subreddits, so it would rely on posts in your subreddit having some unique word or phrase you can search on.
