Is it possible to use HTML formatting in Asana notes?

I’m trying to add bold text to a task generated in Asana. I’ve read a whole bunch of threads here about using markdown or HTML etc etc, but all the threads I’ve found (which are all a year old or more) state that Zapier does not have an “HTML note” field and therefore cannot generate bold text while creating an Asana task.

Does anyone know if this is still the case in Feb 2021?

Ya’ll ready for some good news?

The Asana app now allows for rich text formatting in the notes field. Woohoo! 🎉

That’s it. That’s the good news.

Hi @markinhifi

If my memory serves me correctly, I don’t think Markdown or HTML will work for Asana Task Descriptions via Zapier.

When in doubt, test it out.

@Troy Tessalone I did test it and neither method worked, which brought me here. Just looking to see if there was maybe an alternate method I may have missed or to see if maybe this was still on the roadmap.

Hi @markinhifi

FYI: Most Zap app integrations are maintained by the app developer, rather than by Zapier, altho I’m unsure if Zapier maintains the Asana Zap integration.

The Asana API docs have some info about using Rich Text: https://developers.asana.com/docs/rich-text

@Troy Tessalone Yeah from what I gather, based on earlier threads here as well as Asana’s documentation is that last year they added API support for html notes, but it’s not supported on Zapier’s end (it’s just a plain text notes field). A Zapier community manager (@steph.n) said it was added to a feature request list 10 months ago. I’m guessing it’s pretty low on that list.
