Question

How do I add multiple separate tags to Mailchimp from Google Sheets?

DigitalG

I’m adding multiple tags to mailchimp using sheets cell data in a previous step, it seems to be putting the 2 tags together as one in mailchimp rather than 2 separate tags.

Am I supposed to be using a separator in the tags area in mailchimp?

eg.   Tag1 Tag2

Turns into  Tag1Tag2 in mailchimp.

Hi @DigitalG

Good question.

Tags need to be comma separated.

I did try using the comma however it’s still outputting them as one tag.

Any other suggestions?

Hi @DigitalG! 👋

It’s been a while so I expect you may have already found a solution here, but I wanted to pop in to share that if the Tag(s) field isn’t accepting a comma separated list of tags then you can supply the tags as line items instead.

A Formatter (Utilities > Text to Line-items) action can be used to convert the list of tags supplied by Google Sheets into line items (see: Create line items in Zaps > Text to Line-item). Then in the Tag(s) field on the Mailchimp action you’d select the line items from the Formatter action:

If you hadn’t solved this yet and give line items a try please do let us know how it goes. Happy to help if you run into further issues at all! 🙂
